Since 1995 citizens of North Carolina have been authorized to conceal carry handguns with a state issued permit. The first step in receiving the permit is to take the NC Concealed Carry Handgun Course with an authorized instructor. Since 2018, D3 has been offering this course teaching hundreds of legal gun owners the basic requirements to apply with their local Sheriff’s department.

North Carolina requires this 8hr class, with 2hrs minimum of the class to be NC Handgun Law, as the first step to starting the application process. The course covers NC common and statutory firearms law, basics handgun fundamentals, types of handguns, proper storage and maintenance, ammunition function, and marksmanship fundamentals. Each student is required to pass a test over the law portion and shoot a live fire qualification.

Upon completion of this course, students submit a serialized certificate to their local Sheriff’s Department to schedule their application appointment. No previous experience is needed to attend or pass this course.

The goal is to train each citizen on their rights as resident of North Carolina. Students do not need to currently own a firearm to attend, but they must be 21 to apply for the NC CCH.

The NC CCH acts as the citizens Pistol Purchase Permit when purchasing a firearm.
